πŸ“ˆ Ecom Matters 12/18/25 - Picard, GLP-1, Nasdaq & More

Hey there!

Will this be the final 2025 issue of this "weekly" newsletter? Even I don't know the answer πŸ˜….

I hope this has been a fantastic Q4 for you so far. I also hope you have a little left in the tank for the final stretch (the reason why is below).

In the meantime, here's another round of non-breaking news, memes, quotes, and updates for you in the most inconsistent weekly newsletter around.

πŸ’¬ Quote of the Week

There might not be a more appropriate time to drop in an Atomic Habits quote than shortly before a new year.

Time doesn’t care how hard you’re working. It only cares what you’re repeating.

Now let's see what we missed on the back pages of e-commerce news. ⬇️

What's the Matter?

πŸ“° Super Duper Saturday

An estimated 158.9 million U.S. consumers are expected to be shopping on the last Saturday before Christmas, known as Super Saturday. That number would break the previous record of 158.2 million in 2022.

A total of 71% of those shoppers plan to do at least some of their shopping online.

70% of people surveyed said they plan on making additional purchases after Christmas to take advantage of sales and use gift cards.

Why it matters:

  • The most important stat in the article might be that most consumers reported having only half of their holiday shopping completed up to this point. That leaves a lot of spending yet to come in what will turn out to be a record holiday season spend.
  • Sellers with inventory positioned to arrive before Christmas (think FBM and expedited delivery of FBA items) have a big opportunity.
  • Shoppers' need for pre-Christmas delivery often makes price less of an issue.

We covered this in detail, and more, on yesterday's live News and Q&A show. You can catch the replay here.

πŸ“° Chances are Slim

The rise of GLP-1 weight-loss medications (Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro) isn’t just a health care story, the effects are starting to appear in retail aisles.

Early shifts are appearing in the grocery and apparel categories.

Users of GLP-1s are less interested in processed foods, beef, pork, alcohol, and dairy.

Unsurprisingly, demand for larger sized clothing (L, XL, XXL) has dropped while demand for smaller sizes is increasing.

Why it matters:

  • The frequency of clothes shopping is already starting to increase as existing items in closets need to be replaced with smaller sizes.
  • Redistribution of sizing needs in clothing will likely cause mismatches in supply and demand as brands adjust forecasting models, creating opprtunities with acquisition costs and pricing.
  • GLP-1 prescriptions are often finite, meaning users will eventually stop taking it. This can create stronger demand across other categories such as supplements, vitamins, and fitness equipment. People that lost weight and stop taking the drug will be motivated to keep the weight off.

πŸ“° Leads Don't Work, Until They Do

Most sellers struggle with bad signals. I have a solution.

The first official OAC+ Q1 Leads group is a 90-day program that delivers 25 manually sourced online-arbitrage leads every weekday, It's packed with so many bonuses that I'll need more room below to start listing them.

I'm talking about advanced tools, private communities, and early software releases typically sold separately. The group is designed to make you a better sourcer, scale faster, and to be honest, make you need groups like this less. πŸ‘‡

Why it matters:

Repetition = clarity: Seeing hundreds of vetted deals in a compressed window makes pattern recognition easier.

Aggressively filtered: These aren't spot-checked leads from a VA farm. Chris & I are taking these leads outside and beating them with a broom to see if they hold up. If we wouldn't buy it, you won't see it.

Live context: Got a question? Need clarification? You'll get unmatched access to us. Weekly live calls. Weekly sourcing sessions. Chris & I are present and active in the chats each & everyday.

Exclusive First Access: Be the first to test drive Chris & Nate's new lead database software for free. Manage all of your leads. Set price alerts to replenish them. See how many members have clicked on each group lead.

πŸ“° Walmart Crosses the Street

Walmart has officially started trading on the Nasdaq stock market, completing its listing transfer from the New York Stock Exchange after more than five decades.

The company retained its ticker symbol WMT, but says the change signals a strategic rebrand toward tech, innovation, and omnichannel growth.

Why it matters:

  • Walmart wants investors (and sellers) to see it as a tech-enabled omnichannel powerhouse, not just warehouse aisles and price tags.
  • It's more storytelling than tactical, but it's likely wise for us to listen to and monitor the story.

πŸ’° Weekend Lead Lists

πŸ“’ Some of the Q4 subscribers are starting to drop off, so I do have some openings.

Subscribers are finishing Q4 strong and focusing on maintaining momentum as we move into Q1.

πŸ“š The Most Successful People I Know Are Readers

This stays pretty cheap most of the time, but Lives of the Stoics has dropped to $2 only a few times over the last 5 years, including today.

You've surely heard Ryan Holiday's name dropped numerous times. He's one of my most-read authors and one of our most important voices out there IMO.
