- Tim Ferriss, Tools of Titans
A good reminder to not be so hard on yourself. We're all out here making most of it up as we go along. The book that is the source of the quote is linked below. It's a great read. Now let's see what we might have missed on the back pages of e-commerce news 👇 What's the Matter? 📰 Tariff-ic Price Hikes Shein and Temu will raise prices due to increased costs from tariffs and trade rules. A report found that about 30% of customers will reduce or stop shopping on these marketplaces if costs go up.
Why it matters: From my experience, discretionary spending is like water. If one path gets dammed up, it keeps flowing until it finds another one. Meaning, it's rare that money marked for spending ends up in a savings account instead. One of the most likely candidates for this redirected cash has to be the biggest marketplace around, Amazon, right? 📰 Take Me Home Country Road Amazon will invest over $4 billion to expand its rural delivery network. The expansion will provide faster delivery to millions of customers and create over 100,000 new jobs.
Why it matters: More customers that are able to take full advantage of shopping on Amazon is a very good thing. Amazon's edge that led to market dominance is its ability to remove friction and minimize the time between purchase and delivery. Last-mile rural delivery is expensive and logistics companies like FedEx and UPS are less interested in it these days as they look to trim costs. It's a zig when everyone else is zagging. 📰 Cents and Sensibility Frugal individuals shared their best money-saving habits on Reddit.
Why it matters: I think there's value in observing consumer behavior and spotting trends as it relates to the inventory we source. And, let's be honest, we also have to live our lives in the same economy that we sell in. If things get more expensive, there may be some value on a personal level here too. 🎧 What's the Latest on the Clear The Shelf with Chris & Chris Podcast? Two killer interviews have been released since we talked last. Nick Spisak shared how he built a $1.7 million store on a part-time basis mastering automation, delegation, and AI. Also, the long-awaited Nick Huber interview is here. Nick has the #1 best-selling book on the Amazon Small Business chart currently, multiple businesses valued at nine figures, nearly a million followers across social media... And he sat down with us for an hour to share what he knows. Easily one of my all-time favorite episodes.
🛒 Let's Figure Out This Walmart Thing Intrigued by the success stories you're starting to hear from people selling on Walmart? Would access to a new, rapidly growing marketplace calm your e-commerce nerves? The trusted minds behind the OA Challenge, Chris & Nate, have teamed up with Sarah Ray for the Walmart Challenge. Sarah has been selling on and sharing tips about Walmart since 2021. And she's ready to walk you through the playbook.
So many sellers have been asking for this and spots are limited, so jump on it now.
💰 Alpha Weekend Lead List There are still some spots available on the Weekend list. It's a great option as a budget list or a supplement to your weekday list subscriptions.
📚 The Most Successful People I Know Are ReadersRyan Holiday's Right Thing, Right Now sits at its lowest price ever, at $3 for the Kindle version. This is the third of four installments in his Stoic Virtues series. The first two, Courage is Calling and Discipline is Destiny, are internal reflections. This is the first that deals with our interactions out in the world, externally. Another personal favorite, Tim Ferriss distilled the best advice from 200 interviews he's conducted and collected them here in one volume. Tools of Titans is just $2 currently, its lowest price of the year. 🤣 Sometimes I Think I'm FunnyThe more people that think it's a sinking ship, the easier it is to upgrade to a first class cabin, amirite?? Have a great week! Talk to you soon. Chris |
