💬 Quote of the Week

Being busy is often just a softer way of saying you're overwhelmed.

Now let's see what we might have missed on the back pages of e-commerce news 👇

What's the Matter?

📰 Aisle See You When I See You

Retail job cuts in the U.S. increased by nearly 80% in April, with over 64,000 jobs lost in the first four months of 2025.

The four-month total represented a 296% increase from the year-ago period.

Why it matters:

Certainly consumer confidence and economic uncertainty are factors, but it also reflects the ongoing shift in consumer behavior away from brick & mortar and towards online shopping.

E-commerce is expected to reach $7 trillion globally this year. Amazon holds about 40% of the US e-commerce market and number is growing.

📰 Feeling Fulfilled

Amazon has developed a new robot called Vulcan that can grab about 75% of items in its warehouses and has a sense of touch.

Why it matters:

Sure, Amazon has had robots on-site for a while now, but they're basically programmable dollies.

This is a significant tech leap for Amazon and could benefit sellers in a few different ways:

  • Faster inventory processing
  • Even faster Prime deliveries
  • Improved inventory handling
  • Potentially lower fulfillment costs

📰 May Day for Amazon?

Another boycott of Amazon is planned from May 6 to May 12, organized by the People's Union USA.

This is a follow up to previous boycotts and economic blackouts aimed at encouraging support for small businesses over large corporations.

The group has also announced upcoming boycotts against Walmart, Target, and McDonald's.

Does it matter?

I highly doubt you'll even notice.

📰 LOLlipops

An 8-year-old boy named Liam accidentally ordered 69,000 Dum-Dum lollipops on Amazon, totaling $4,200.

His mother found out when she noticed her bank account was overdrawn. Thankfully, Amazon refunded the money, and Liam plans to donate the candy to schools and friends.

Why it matters:

It doesn't. The story just made me laugh.

🛒 Update on The Walmart Challenge Bonus

If you saw my email yesterday offering a free bonus lead list, but you assumed you were too late, that would be incorrect.

I still have 2 spots available as I write this.

Check yesterday's email if you're fuzzy on the details, but the gist is the next 2 sellers that sign up for the Walmart Challenge through my link will get a bonus lead list with a minimum of $400 projected profit.

More than enough to cover the cost of the challenge.

If you're somehow still on the fence about the whole thing, you have some time left to register for the live webinar with Chris Grant & Sarah Ray.

They'll cover everything you need to know about the challenge.

💰 Alpha Weekend Lead List

We were sold out for a hot minute over the weekend, but one spot just opened up.

📚 The Most Successful People I Know Are Readers

Never Split the Difference by Chris Voss is $2 for the Kindle version.

I don't know anyone that has read this that didn't love it. I see this on favorite books lists possibly more than any other nonfiction.

I read this years ago and loved it. The stories read like Malcolm Gladwell or Freakonomics, but he gives you practical advice along with it.

When: The Scientific Secrets of Perfect Timing is $5 currently, its lowest price since November.
